The ace badminton players of India Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth have progressed to the semi-finals of BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament on Friday. In this round quarter final of India Open, Srikanth edged past his fellow shuttler Sai Parneeth by 21-23, 21-11, 21-19 in one hour and two minutes of action while 32-year-old Kashyap beats Wang Tzu Wei of Taiwan with 21-16, 21-11 win in just 39 minutes. Kashyap took the 9-6 lead very easily in the first game against Taiwanese but when she comeback it was not that easy for Kashyap to steal the match but he stormed back and won the first set after which there was no looking back for him and he sealed the game with a clean finish.
On the other side, for Srikanth the game was a hard nut to crack as Praneeth built an early lead of 5-2 in the first game after which he tried to got back and drew level at 13-13 just to concede an 18-14 advantage again. Though in the second game also Parneeth took the lead one more time with 7-1 but this time Srikanth fought back to win the game.
The 26-year-old Srikanth said on his not so easy victory,”After losing the first set and trailing 1-7 in the second, coming back to take a 8-7 lead was the turning point”. He also added, “After 1-1, I gave him too many one stroke points and there were no rallies. So I thought to build rallies and fight it out for every point and not to concede any easy point
Earlier, 2015 title winner Srikanth survived with a close victory against Hong Kong’s Vincent Wong Wing Ki by 21-16, 18-21, 21-19 in men’s single at India Open 2019. The clash between both the veteran players was nail-biting and thrilling as in the beginning of the game third seeded Srikanth found it difficult to stop Vincet’s strokes but by the time of third set he came back in the game and sealed the match with a triumph over Hong Kong star.
