Spectators have been the life of the National Basketball Association ever since the league was created. From the happy cheers to the sad cries, fans express themselves and their favorite teams.
This season has shown us what basketball can be without fans. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, NBA Basketball had come to a halt. Ever since its resumption, virtual crowds has been the new normal.
In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, some huge celebrities were in attendance. One of them being, former President Barack Obama. He was part of the initiative to encourage people to vote, in partnership with Lakers’ forward LeBron James’ organization “More Than a Vote”. Obama has always supported the NBA in its political or even social stands. A few weeks ago, he commended the players for boycotting the NBA playoff games after the brutal shooting of Jacob Blake.
Many NBA legends also graced the event with their presence. James Worthy and Shaquille O’Neal were seated next to Obama. Other NBA legends who were also present were, Manu Ginobli, Ray Allen, Robert Horry, Robert Parish, Bill Walton, Clyde Dexter, Dirk Nowitzki, Dwyane Wade, Isiah Thomas, Julius Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Chauncey Billups, Paul Pierce, and Pau Gasol who was seen wearing a Kobe Bryant No. 8 jersey.
Apart from all the NBA legends present in the virtual crowd, pop artist Halsey was also present in the crowd. All these famous celebrities witnessed the Lakers win Game 1 of the 2019-2020 Finals, against the Heat. The Lakers won 116-98. Game 2 of the NBA Finals will be played on 3rd October at 6:30 am (IST).
