The 2019-2020 season has been a roller coaster ride but has not been disappointing for sure. It started out with 30 hungry teams fighting for the NBA Championship. Only 2 get the opportunity to fight it out against each other. Los Angeles Lakers will face off against Miami Heat.
Miami Heat were the underdogs entering the NBA playoffs. Most people expected Milwaukee Bucks to reach the finals, led by MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. But the Heat shook the entire association when they defeated the Bucks in 5 games.
On the other hand, the Lakers were the favorites since the start to win the NBA title this year. They acquired All-Star forward, Anthony Davis this year, and suddenly the team was a star-studded team. The team had lots of expectations but haven’t disappointed till yet. They had the best record in the Western Conference with 52 wins and 19 losses. The All-Star tandem of LeBron James and Anthony Davis has played exceptionally well. LeBron James is averaging 25.3 points per game with 10.2 assists per game (leads the NBA). Davis averaged 28.8 points per game and grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game.
The Lakers had also beaten the Heat both the times they had met in the regular season this past season. Once by 5 points and the other by 3 points.
The Lakers have the upper hand because of their experience. The Lakers have 7 players who have played in the NBA Finals at least once in their careers. Whereas, the Heat are a group of players making the Finals for the first time. LeBron James alone has played in 9 finals and will be playing his 10th finals tomorrow. He has many accolades in the history of the NBA finals. 1st in triple-doubles, 2nd in total points and three-pointers made, 3rd in total assists and field goals made, 4th in doubles-doubles, and the list goes on and on.
No doubt the Heat has given it all their heart and soul to reach till the NBA Finals. But they might be a bit less experienced and less driven to win the NBA Finals.
One thing is for sure, that NBA fans are in for a really great series. It will be a series worth watching. But what the outcome I think will be according to the reasons mentioned above is, I see the Lakers winning their 17th NBA Championship.
The best-of-seven NBA Finals series start from October 1 and go on to October 14th. Game 1 of the series will be played on Thursday at 6:30 am (IST).
