Former football great Bhaichung Bhutia takes a stand against former Indian skipper MS Dhoni after the Balidaan Badge controversy. The 42-year-old Indian striker has advised the wicket keeper-batsman not to wear the Army insignia on his gloves while playing the World Cup fixtures as it violates the sporting rules.

According to one of the greatest footballers of India, Bhutia, the former Indian captain should remove the prestigious badge and respect the rules and regulations of ICC.

One of the best wicket-keepers to play for India, Mahendra Singh Dhoni donned the army insignia ‘Balidaan Badge’ during his side’s opening match at ICC World Cup 2019 against South Africa.

The International Cricket Council said while turning down BCCI’s request to allow Dhoni to wear ‘Balidaan Badge’ during the matches, “the regulations for ICC events do not permit any individual message or logo to be displayed on any items of clothing or equipment”

Indian team performed exceptionally well in their first match with a successful six-wicket win over Proteas at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, Southampton on June 5th. Toss winning team South Africa elected to bat first in the match against Virat Kohli and company. The  Indian team restricted the African team for 228 runs on the board. After which India chased down the score with 6 wickets remaining. This win gave India a winning start to their ICC world 2019 campaign where they will now face Australia in their next match on June 9th.
