New Zealand have recalled Todd Astle and Jimmy Neesham for the remaining two ODIs against India. Both the players were injured, Todd Astle got injured during last year’s series against Pakistan whereas the allrounder Jimmy Neesham got injured during the SriLanka ODIs earlier this month.
India have already taken an unassailable lead in the 5 match series by winning the first three ODIs and are now looking to give chances to their bench strength. Virat Kohli has already been rested and Rohit Sharma will be leading in his place. There is a high chance that the teenage sensation and the Man of the tournament of the Under 19 world cup, Shubman Gill may make his debut.
Shubman Gill is making all the right noises in the Indian cricketing circle. Asked about him during the post-match interview after the third ODI, Virat Kohli said that he is very happy with the talent that is coming through the ranks. Kohli said that when he sees Shubman Gill play in the nets he feels that he was not even 10 percent of him when he was 19 years old.
Hardik Pandya has already made his comeback after his temporary suspension. KL Rahul will join the squad for the T20s. India will be looking to win both the remaining matches and win the series 5-0. The next match of the series will be played at Hamilton on the 31st January.
