Indian Premier League will have its auction on December 18 in Jaipur. The news was confirmed by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) on Monday, December 3. There are 70 slots that are available out of which 50 are to be filled by Indian Players and the rest 20 are available for overseas players. This auction will help the franchises which have released players after last IPL.
Kings XI Punjab has the highest amount in the purse as they have released 11 of their players, the most by any team. On the other hand the defending champions for IPL 2019, Chennai Super Kings will have the option of picking only 2 players as they already have retained 23 players in their pool.
Delhi Daredevils have the most pathetic record out of the 8 IPL teams as they have finished at the bottom of the table in 5 out of the 8 seasons. They need to pursue this action as they already have released Glenn Maxwell from their pool. They need someone to bat with Rishabh Pant in the middle order.
Royal Challengers need to look for openers as they don’t have Gayle or Rahul in their ranks now. They could very well look at Aaron Finch to make a difference. They also need someone to look after the fast bowling department with Starc having opted out of this IPL season to prepare for the Ashes and the World Cup.
Kolkata Knight Riders have the maximum number of overseas players slot available -5 whereas Mumbai Indians have only 1 overseas player spot remaining. Sunrisers have three Indians and two overseas slots remaining. The auction has been designated to be held for a single day as the number of players available is less than the original auction.
