‘Little Master’ Gavaskar was the first Indian batsman ever who reached the milestone of 10,000 runs in the history of cricket. Not only this, the former batting maestro played a great role at the time of 1983 World Cup against West Indies squad where India lifted its first World Cup trophy in England. Gavaskar is best known for his fearless batting style against destructive bowlers of opponent teams.
Apart from his unique batting approach, he is also famous for his bold and courageous nature. Earlier two months back, Gavaskar took a great step to save many innocent lives across the country. The legendary right-handed batsman came forward to sponsor a total of 34 lifesaving heart surgeries for those children who belong to economically weaker section. In order to implement this outstanding idea, Gavaskar ensured to open Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani International Centre for Child Heart Care in Navi Mumbai.
In his 20 years of career, the Mumbai-based cricketer contributed a lot to Indian Cricket. During his inspiring journey from 1969 to 1989, Gavaskar created many remarkable records one of them was scoring the highest number of centuries in Test cricket for his side. Gavaskar bagged a total of 34 centuries in his career but his record was later broken by another batting great Sachin Tendulkar in 2005. Though Tendulkar has always considered Gavaskar as his role model and inspiration throughout his cricket career. Many of their fans also compare both the cricket legends often but there is no doubt in saying that Gavaskar is the one and only of his time and nobody could beat his aura ever.
