As IPL 2019 is going to kick start soon, Delhi Capitals, formerly known as Delhi Daredevils has appointed veteran cricketer Sourav Ganguly as their advisor for the upcoming event. Former India captain has taken the responsibility of franchise to lead them towards the path of victory as the squad has never won any IPL title. In the new role, Ganguly will work closely with coach Ricky Ponting. On the occasion of joining Delhi Capitals Ganguly said, “I am very pleased to come on board with the Delhi Capitals. Having known the Jindals and the JSW Group for years, I am now excited to be a part of their latest sports venture. I am really looking forward to working with the players and the support staff”. The 46-year-old cricketer from Bengal had joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a skipper during IPL 2008 which was later led by Gautam Gambhir. Earlier, Delhi Capitals had appointed Mohammad Kaif as their assistant coach for the upcoming 12th season of Vivo IPL. Now both former Indian teammates Ganguly and Kaif will support Australia batting legend Ricky Ponting in coaching the team of Delhi Capitals.

Delhi Capitals (DC) led by captain Shreyas Iyer will commence their journey of IPL 2019 against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 24 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The squad will play its first home match of the 12th edition against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 26 at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. The team is followed by the owners GMR Group and the JSW Group.
