Mahendra Singh Dhoni, an incredible icon in the Cricket world has proven his gratitude and modesty each and every time. Despite being on the top and achieving immense success in his career he always sticks to his roots. Recently, Captain Cool has politely declined the invitation of inaugurating a pavilion named after him in Jharkhand. The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) planned to unveil the Dhoni pavilion after third ODI series of India against Australia. The association was all set to inaugurate the stand with local boy Mahi (MS Dhoni) but the former Indian captain humbly denied the proposal by saying, “Dada mein toh isika hissa hu. Ghar ka ladka apne hi ghar mein kya inaugurate karega? (I am a part of this ground. How can a person inaugurate something in his own home?)”. Inauguration of his own named stand will make him feel that he is “not a part of this ground”.
The secretary of JSCA said, “This left me in an awkward spot but this shows his graciousness”. The proposal to name the south pavilion after MS Dhoni was tabled in the last AGM meeting of Jharkhand State Cricket Association. However, the placard was already been placed at a stand after the governing body decided to finalize the proposal. Though, the north stand of the stadium is named after Amitabh Choudhary, president of JSCA.
India is currently leading the five-match ODI series by a margin of 2-0 after beating the Australian team in Hyderabad and Nagpur. In the first match, Dhoni scored a half-century and led the team to the finishing line along with Kedar Jadhav while in the second match, he was dismissed for a duck which was the first time in nine years when Dhoni got out at duck in a home series game.
