The great team effort of England helped them to bounce back against traditional rivals Australia in the final Ashes Test on Sunday. The hosts outclassed the Australian cricket squad by 135 runs in front of the vibrant crowd of Kennington Oval in the fifth Ashes Test. With this, historical win Joe Root’s troop leveled the 2019 Ashes battle with a 2-2 scoreline against Australia. It is the first time when the Ashes series ended with a draw between both the teams since 1972.
Aussies who already took the successful lead in this year’s Ashes urn, kicked off the last encounter with great confidence as they had run-machine Steve Smith by their side. While chasing the massive target of 399 runs in the second innings, Aussies had the worst possible start as both their talented openers Marcus Harris and David Warner lost their wickets very early. However, experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade gave some hope to his team by scoring 117 off 166 balls but he was also hunted down by England’s captain Joe Root. After which Australia bundled out at 263 runs in just 77 overs.
Needless to say that the netizens flooded social media platforms for great efforts of both the teams. Despite being jolted in the fourth battle, England gave tough competition to Aussies in the recently concluded series and for this winning spirit of Joe Root and team each and every cricket fan lauded them on Twitter.
Here’s some of the Twitter reactions after a nerve-wracking match between England and Australia at Kennington Oval on Sunday:
Great effort by @cricketcomau chasing that total. Congratulations @ECB_cricket on levelling the series. Australia retain the Ashes however I feel 2-2 is a fair score line from the Test Cricket we have witnessed.#Ashes2019

The star skipper of hosting team, Joe Root said after the match wrapped up at Oval Stadium, “it is Ashes cricket. Every game you turn up and you are playing for your country. It means so much to everyone. You can see at different periods someone wrestled it back into our favour”.
This year’s Ashes campaign started with an impressive win of Australia by 251. Though in the third encounter, hosts made a great comeback with the superhuman efforts from Ben Stokes and that’s how the score line was leveled up with 1-1 scoreline. The see-saw battle then moved to Old Trafford Cricket ground where Australia grabbed the 185-run win with the help of Ashes King Steve Smith who singlehandedly lifted his team against England. Now finally the five-match Ashes series ended with a 2-2 draw.
