The powerful hosts whitewashed the hapless Proteas by an inning and 137 runs in the second encounter of an ongoing three-match Test series at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Sunday.
Virat Kohli’s unbeaten knock of 254 runs along with handy half centuries of Cheteshwara Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane drove the Indian squad towards an exceptional victory against South Africa in the important Test campaign. The toss winning team, India decided to bat first and their decision proved right at the end of the game as the hosts successfully set a massive score of 601 runs on board in just the first innings. As a result, while chasing such a monumental target in the first innings Proteas has a worst possible start and the entire team of visitors was bundled out at just 275 runs in first innings. All thanks to the incredible spinning attacks of star pacers Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
In the second innings of the game also, Virat Kohli and team had enough runs in the kitty and so they decided to enforce follow on Proteas. With immense pressure in head, Proteas began their second innings on a positive note. In this way, India registered 11th series victory at home and Virat Kohli declared as the ‘Player of the Match’.

India will next play their third and the last Test match of the ongoing series against South Africa on October 19th at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
