In the 31st match of ICC World Cup 2019, the bottom-ranked team Afghanistan will battle with Bangladesh squad on June 24th at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground. Notably, Both the squads have played total six matches in the ongoing tournament so far.
Bangladesh opened their ongoing World Cup campaign by a comfortable 21-run victory against South Africa at The Oval Stadium, London. Unfortunately, in their second encounter, the squad failed to seal the game against strong Kiwis and lost by two wickets on the same pitch. In their third match against hosting team England, Mashrafe Mortaza and team faced a terrible 106-run defeat at the pitch of Sophia Gardens which gave another setback to the team. Though their fourth encounter against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to bad weather conditions at Bristol County stadium. After facing series of disappointment, Bangladesh finally bounced back in the game against West Indies squad at County Ground stadium. In their last match against defending Champions Australia, Bangladeshi cricketers fell short by just 48 runs at Trent Bridge stadium.
On the other hand, hapless Afghanistan hasn’t even won a game in the World Cup 2019 so far. The Gulbadin Naib-led squad opened their campaign with a drastic seven wickets defeat against Australia at Bristol County Ground. This was then followed by two more back-to-back defeats against Sri Lanka and New Zealand respectively. In their fourth match against Proteas at Sophia Gardens, Afghans again failed to clinch the game and lost with a margin of nine wickets via DLS method. The losing streak was continued in their fifth match also as England beat the Afghan squad by as many as 150 runs at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. In their last match against two-time World Champions Indian cricketers, Naib and team gave a close fight to the opponents but still lost the game by just 11 runs. This comes after the Afghanistan squad failed to reach the paltry target of 225 runs in 50 overs at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground.
Both Afghanistan and Bangladesh have played only one match against each other at World Cup fixtures so far out of which Bangladesh clinched the game over Afghans. The highest total posted by Afghanistan squad against Bangladesh in World Cup clash is 162 runs while the highest score posted by Bangladeshi cricket team against Afghans is 267 runs.
Light downpours could be expected at the beginning of the first innings and later in the evening also and therefore the game is likely to be affected at the pitch of Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, Southampton.
