The 23rd match of ICC World Cup 2019 is going to witness two struggling teams, West Indies and Bangladesh on June 17th at County Ground, Taunton. Both the squads have played total four matches so far in the ongoing edition. Windies, on one hand, has won only one match and lost two while one match got no result, Bangladesh on the other came out with a lone victory so far. The Bangladeshi squad also lost two games while their one match got no results.
After facing a fortunate victory against Pakistan in their 2019 World Cup opener Jason Holder-led squad gained the good start at Trent Bridge stadium with a seven-wicket comfortable win. Later in the second battle, Windies didn’t live up to their expectations on the same pitch as they lost by just 15 runs to defending champion Australia. West Indies’ next match against South Africa had been called by the cricket authorities due to bad weather conditions at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground, Hampshire. Disappointed West Indies squad then battled in another match to turn their fortunes but in the fourth match also they faced the same kind of misery against England at Rose Bowl ground. Now the match against Bangladesh in a must-win chance for Windies to improve their position in points table otherwise they could out from the World Cup race.
On the other side, Bangladesh also started off quite well as they clinched the comfortable 21-run victory against South Africa at The Oval Stadium, London. Unfortunately, in their second encounter, the squad failed to attain victory over strong Kiwis and lost by total two wickets at the same pitch. In their third match against hosting team England, Mashrafe Mortaza and team faced a terrible 106-run defeat at the pitch of Sophia Gardens which gave another setback to the team. Though, their last match against Sri Lanka had been abandoned due to heavy rains at Bristol County stadium. This is the reason Bangladesh is also looking for a desperate win in the game against West Indies on Monday in order to move up to a better position in the points table. Currently, the country is reigning at the eighth with only three points so far.
As per their World Cup fixture records, Bangladesh and West Indies have played total four matches out of which Windies had won all except one match which got no results and unlucky Bangladesh didn’t manage to grab a single victory in grand cricket cup matches. In their last 37 encounters, it was West Indies who dominated Bangladesh in 21 matches and Bangladeshi cricketers managed to win only 14 games while two matches washed out with no results.
