The hapless team of Bangladesh still can’t find the ways to beat the destructive Indian pacers in a Test Cricket format. In the much-awaited Test opener at Holkar Stadium, Indore also Bangladesh got packed for just 150 runs in the first innings. All thanks to the world-class pacers Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Ravichandran Ashwin who performed exceedingly well for India.
The day was started with ‘Tigers’ winning a toss and elected to bat first. After this decision, both the explosive openers of Bangladesh Shadman Islam and Imrul Kayes came on the pitch with great confidence. But it seemed like the Indian pacers were not in a mood to waste any time in the first innings as they immediately sent the opening duo back to the pavilion in just seven overs.
The dismissal of both the talented openers at a very early stage hit the Bangladeshi tigers very hard. However, star skipper Mominul Haque (37) and the swashbuckling batsman Mushfiqur Rahman (43) tried their best to save the drowning side with important cameos. But the brilliant pacing unit of India bundled them out at just 150-run stand after 58.3 overs on the very first day of the Test opener.
However, in their reply to Bangladeshi Tigers on Day 1, Indians got off a jerky as their crucial batsman Rohit Sharma lost his wicket to star pacer Abu Jayed at an early stage. He walked off the field with just six runs in the kitty. But his opening partner Mayank Agarwal and talented cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara held the reigns of the home team once again. In this way, they constructed a partnership of 80 runs against the strong opponents. Now India is trailing by just 64 runs to win at the end of Day 1 on Thursday.
If the Tigers want to win this ongoing Test battle then they have to buck up quickly as the unstoppable Indians are moving with great momentum and are very close to their target in the first innings. It will be interesting to see how the hosts will perform on the second day in Indore against Bangladesh.
