Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja who has recently secured his lucky spot in ICC World Cup squad of India, extended his support to Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) a day after his family backed Rahul Gandhi-led Congress ahead of 2019 elections. Jadeja took to Twitter to announce his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tweeted,”I support BJP. @narendramodi #rivabajadeja jai hind”. In his reply to veteran all rounder cricketer PM Modi tweeted, “Thank you @imjadeja! And, congratulations on being selected for the Indian cricket team for the 2019 World Cup. My best wishes.”

Earlier in an event at Kalavad town, Jamnagar Jadeja’s sister Naynaba and father Anirudhasinh have joined the congress party on Sunday. Expressing her thoughts about joining congress Naynaba said, “I wanted to work for women empowerment and chose the grand old party as it was fighting for rights of women, farmers, youths and others”. Not only this, Jadeja’s wife Rivaba also stepped into politics as she joined BJP right after when PM Modi visited to Jamnagar to promote BJP for upcoming elections.
Interestingly, 30-year-old Jadeja is not the only Indian cricketer who supported BJP, earlier last month former cricket legend Gautam Gambhir took the reigns of saffron party from New Delhi ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Gambhir took the decision to step in politics after being inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the cricket front Ravindra Jadeja is currently playing for defending champions Chennai Super Kings in ongoing Indian Premier League. He became the top-ranked Indian bowler in March 2017 and left behind Ravichandran Ashwin who held the position in past.
