After Kings XI Punjab now Chennai Super Kings are going to support families of martyred CRPF personnel who were killed in brutal Pulwama attack on February 14. The franchise has announced to donate the proceeds collected from opening match of IPL to the kin of soldiers. The 12th edition of Indian Premier League will kick start with the opening match of last year’s title winners Chennai Super Kings taking on Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore at CSK home ground at MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.
The Yellow squad took to Twitter to share the information and said, “ChennaiIPL first home match ticket proceeds will go towards the families of the victims of Pulwama Attack. Captain MS Dhoni who is honorary Lt. Colonel of the Indian territorial army, will present the cheque!”

Earlier this week, another IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) donated Rs five lakh each to families of five CRPF martyred. The cheque has been given to each family of soldiers (Jaimal Singh, Sukhjinder Singh, Maninder Singh, Kulwinder Singh and Tilak Raj) who belong to Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and lost their lives in the deadly terror attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama, J&K. Cheques were distributed at an event in the presence of Kings XI Punjab team’s skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and DIG CRPF V K Kaundal. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had also donated Rs 20 crore for the welfare of armed forces. Not only this, BCCI will also invite all the Indian forces’ dignitaries including Army, Navy and Air Force in the opening ceremony of Indian Premier League 2019
Moreover both the teams are all set to give excellent performances in the field which will raise the tempo of the match. RCB squad have already departed for Chennai to play their first match of IPL 2019.
