The star pacer of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Dale Steyn has been ruled out from the ongoing series of Indian Premier League (IPL) after performing just a two-match stint. He was roped in by the franchise as a replacement of injured Nathan Coulter-Nile who was forced to sit in the stands after picking up a severe injury.
Just after his blockbuster entry in Bangalore squad, the injured pacer led his side towards victory by clinching four crucial wickets in two games against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
The 35-year-old experienced cricketer suffered the shoulder injury in the match against Aussies at Perth in 2016 which kept him away from bowling for two years.
Steyn who went unsold in last year’s auction of IPL, had earlier played for the franchises like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Lions, Sunrisers Hyderabad and now discarded Deccan Chargers.
The Chairman of Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise Sanjeev Churiwala said on the development, “Dale Steyn has been prescribed ample rest due to inflammation in his shoulder. On account of the state of his health, Dale will not be available to take further part in the ongoing season of IPL”
