The skipper of Mumbai Indians(MI) Rohit Sharma has achieved another milestone by reaching the benchmark of 8000 runs in T20 Cricket format. This comes after the explosive opener of Mumbai scored 30 off 22 balls in the thrilling match against Delhi Capitals at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Thursday. This win leads Mumbai Indians straight to the second spot in IPL points table though MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is still reigning on the board.

Sharma has become the third Indian cricketer after Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina to pass the mark of 8000 runs in Twenty20 format. Star Indian batsman Raina is leading the board with 8,216 runs while Kohli is on second spot with 8,183 runs. In the 12th edition of Indian Preimier League, Sharma has bagged 223 runs at an average of 27.87 so far but was able to score only a single half-century.

Earlier this month, the 31-year-old veteran cricketer injured himself during the practice sessions at Wankhede Stadium before their face-off against Kings XI Punjab in home ground. The player skipped that match due to his injury. However, the blue squad had won the match by 3 wickets despite the absence of Sharma.

Rohit Sharma-led Indians will next lock their horns with Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals on Saturday at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
