After a month-long league phase the Indian Premier League 2019 is finally reaching to its end as the biggest cricket carnival of India is just one step away from the final showdown and the tickets of spectacular climax have been sold off in just a blink of an eye. The tickets of IPL 2019 final at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium vanished in just 120 seconds after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) put the tickets on sale without any prior announcement or official notice. This made the IPL fans high and dry as everybody got dumb struck and raised the questions on transparency and accountability of the Board.
The former executive committee member of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) said on the development, “How can all the tickets be sold within minutes? It is quite baffling and the BCCI has to give an answer for depriving the fans of a chance to watch the final”.
The tickets for Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium having the capacity of over 39,000 spectators were sold without any clear details. Earlier, the tickets under the denomination of Rs Rs 1000, Rs 1500, Rs 2000, Rs 2500, Rs 5000, Rs 10000, Rs 12,500, Rs 15,000, Rs 22,500 have been put on sale while this time the ticketing partner EventsNow had only sold the final tickets related to the denomination Rs 1500, Rs 2000, Rs 2500 and Rs 5000. After this event the questions have emerged that ‘What happened to the rates of other tickets? Where have they gone?’. Speaking about the non-availability of ticket details business development manager of EventsNow said, “I cannot give any details. We are selling tickets that have been given to us. It is the BCCI who should give out the details; we are not authorised to do so”.
On the match front, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have successfully secured their spots in finals while Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings will battle for the last berth in a do or die eliminator on Friday at ACA-VDCA cricket stadium.
