Shreyas Iyer’s Delhi Capitals registered yet another victory in the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) after they beat Rajasthan Royals by 46 runs. DC players produced an all-round performance in the game.
After winning the toss, RR skipper Steve Smith opted to field first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. They continued making changes in their playing XI as Ankit Rajpoot and Tom Curran missed out on this game. As a result, Varun Aaron and Andrew Tye got a nod to play their first game of the season.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals continued with their winning combination from the last encounter in this one too.
DC batsmen didn’t get the expected start after losing three wickets of their top-order batsmen inside the powerplay. Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer played handy knocks in the middle-overs to consolidate the innings. With a few shots from Axar Patel in the end, Delhi Capitals posted a fighting total of 184-8 after their 20 overs.
Jofra Archer once again emerged as the pick of the bowlers for RR with his spell of 4-0-24-3 in this game. Rahul Tewatia also bowled an economical spell of 1/20 in his quota of four overs.
RR kept losing wickets at regular interval
After losing the early wicket of Jos Buttler off Ravi Ashwin inside the powerplay, a small partnership took place between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Steve Smith. But after that, they started losing wickets in quick succession at the middle-overs. Rahul Tewatia scored a few runs in the end but lacked support from the other end.
With a magnificent bowling performance, DC bowlers restricted Rajasthan Royals at 138 to clinch the game. With this victory, Shreyas and co. climbed to the top position in the Points Table with ten points in six matches.
