Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders beat Rajasthan Royals by a comfortable margin of 37 runs to register their second victory of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Young KKR fast bowler Shivam Mavi won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his spell of 4-0-20-2 in the game.
After winning the toss, RR skipper Steve Smith invited his opponents to put up a score on the board. As expected, both the teams played this game with the same playing XIs as their last respective games.
Batting first, opener Shubman Gill once again played a magnificent knock of 47 runs. With a small cameo from Nitish Rana and Andre Russell, the stage was set for the finishers to post a big total on the board. Eoin Morgan provided them with the big shots in the end and, as a result, KKR posted a decent score of 174-6 on a difficult batting pitch of Dubai.
England pacer Jofra Archer led the bowling attack for the Royals as he was on fire in this game. With constantly raging deliveries at 150 km/h, he made it difficult for the opposite batsmen to face him.
Middle-muddle for RR batsmen
None of the Rajasthan Royals batsmen showed a fighting spirit in this game as they did in their previous encounters. Jos Buttler emerged as their leading run-scorer amongst the top six batsmen. A quick fifty from all-rounder Tom Curran helped Steve Smith and co. reduce the defeat margin in the end.
KKR took the field with plenty of bowling options in this game. Karthik tried six of them, and all of them bowled well. Moreover, each of their six bowlers managed to tick the wickets column. Apart from MoM Mavi, youngsters Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Varun Chakravarthy also shared two-wickets each.
