Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals once again join hands with the Australia legend Shane Warne. This time, the Rajasthan-based franchise roped him in as the mentor and brand ambassador ahead of the upcoming edition. Warne previously served as their ambassador in the last season of IPL.
On his 51st birthday, RR took on Twitter to wish him and make this announcement alongside. With a welcome video, the franchisee wrote, “Welcome back, Warnie. Birthday boy @shanewarne joins the side as our mentor and brand ambassador for IPL 2020.”

Shane Warne, one of the highest wicket-takers in international cricket, expressed his happiness to be back in the Royals camp. Warnie also said that he would help the team strive for excellence over the next two months.
“It’s always a great feeling to be back with Royals, my team, my family. It’s exciting to be working across all elements of this franchise that I love. We have worked towards our vision of becoming a global team that fans around the world love and follow.
“This season, I am looking forward to working as a team mentor and joining up with an excellent backroom staff in Zubin Bharucha and Andrew McDonald. Hopefully, we can have a successful season and achieve big things in the coming months,” Shane Warne was quoted as saying in a press release.
Shane Warne’s IPL career
Shane Warne’s entire IPL career was with Rajasthan Royals. In 2008, he led them to lift the maiden title of the Indian Premier League. Warne’s last match came against Mumbai Indians in 2011, where he claimed the wicket of Rohit Sharma.
Overall, he featured in 55 IPL matches and claimed 57 wickets at a strike rate of 20.94. He is also one of the most successful overseas spinners in the history of the Indian Premier League.
