The IPL 2020 tournament which was supposed to start from March 29 has been postponed. The tournament will now likely be played behind closed doors. The decision to postpone the tournament was taken by Sourav Ganguly who is the president of BCCI alongwith other senior members of BCCI. The ministry of sports in India has clearly stated that the sports events if at all are going to take place will be played under strict guidelines. Earlier in the day, the Delhi Government led by Arvind Kejriwal had banned IPL from hosting any games in Delhi for the upcoming season. The Indian Government had earlier banned all travel from foreign shores till April 15.

The current series between Australia and New Zealand is also being played inside empty stadiums because of the pandemic. One of Australian Bowlers, Kane Richardson was tested for Corona Virus after he complained of throat pain on the eve of first ODI. The test results confirmed negativity for Corona Virus. England’s test tour to Sri Lanka is also under scanner but a final word has not come from ECB till now. They are closely monitoring the situation.
