India and Australia started the ODI series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad today. Both the teams were looking to iron out the flaws before the world cup. This is the last set of ODI matches that both teams will play before the world cup.
Australia batted first and scored 236 for the loss of 8 wickets which was 20 runs less on this pitch for a par score. Aaron Finch poor form continued with the bat and he scored a duck. Khawaja scored 50 but could not make a century and was caught by Vijay Shankar at the boundary off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. Stoinis made 37, Maxwell was looking good but his innings was cut short on 40 by a Shami ball which shattered the stumps.
Indian innings did not get to an auspicious start and Dhawan was caught at point for a duck. Rohit and Virat added 79 for the second wicket. Kohli was trapped in front by Zampa on the score of 80. India lost 2 more wickets in the next 15 runs and was in a spot of bother at 95 for 4.
Dhoni was then joined by Jadhav and both remained unbeaten on 59 and 81 respectively. India won the match with 10 balls to spare and the form of Dhoni is a good sign for Team India.
Match started at 08:00 AM GMT / 01:30 PM local time. The ban on David Warner and Steve Smith will be ending soon so if Finch doesn’t score runs in this series there may be a case that he may be replaced by Smith as skipper in the World Cup. This may be the last time Indian people will see MS Dhoni in the ODI jersey. It is being widely speculated that he will retire after the 2019 World Cup making way for Rishabh Pant.
