The T20 series loss against Australia is India’s first series loss at home under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. India was blanked 2-0 by Australia in the series. The final match in Bengaluru was a one-man show with Maxwell showing why he is called as the big show. The best of Glenn Maxwell was on display as he tore apart the Indian bowling line up with 9 sixes during his hundred.
In total this was India’s 4th T20 series loss but the first three were under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. With his innings of 113 not out Maxwell now holds the record for the highest score in a T20I versus India in India. He also became the third batsman in the world to hit 3 or more centuries in T20I format. Rohit Sharma leads the pack with 4 tons. Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell are now tied at 2nd place with 3 tons each.
Maxwell made a half-century in the first match also but was ridiculed for not finishing the match. He learnt from his mistake and completed the job this time around. He got out to Yuzi Chahal in the last match slogging leg side to a ball that was pitched well outside off and was turning further away. At the Chinnaswamy, Chahal set the trap in the same manner but this time Maxwell was up to the challenge and instead of slogging the ball down leg, he hit it inside out over cover for a maximum.
The ODI series between the two teams starts on March 2nd at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
