Sri Lanka will be looking to save the series when they go head to head with the hosts South Africa in the third ODI on Sunday, March 10. The hosts are leading the 5 match series by a margin of 2-0 and a win will give them the series. On the other hand, Sri Lanka who sprung a surprise in the test series by winning both the games were expected to do better in the ODI format. Their batting has been disappointing, to say the least. In both the games the batsmen had a chance to put up a big score but there were soft dismissals which put an end to the story.
Oshada Fernando, the find of the tour looked promising in both the innings but he and Kusal Mendis have been involved in run outs in both the games. In the first game, Mendis was run out because of the confusion and in the second game, Fernando was the one who had to sacrifice his wicket. Lasith Maling, the leader of the team was also unhappy about his batsmen not grabbing the chances.
On the other hand, South Africa is making a comeback to form after the thrashing they got in the Test Series. The skipper is back among the runs with a hundred in the first game. Quinton de Kock is giving them rapid starts. Imran Tahir is getting wickets in the middle order and the quicks are breathing fire. They will be looking to seal the series and make some changes for the last 2 ODIs as a dress rehearsal for the world cup.
The match will be played at Kingsmead, Durban. The ground with a capacity of 25000 is known for his pace and bounce and that will make the task more difficult for the Asian team but as they show in the test matches, the Lions have got the fight in them.
