Over the years it became a trend in cricket fraternity that whenever an international team travels to India, it appoints an ex-Indian player as their batting or bowling coach in order to get additional information about the pitch and conditions. This time also Proteas did the same thing. The South African Cricket Board has recently named the former Indian Ranji player Amol Muzumdar as interim batting coach of Proteas for three-match Test series.

The Acting Director of Cricket South Africa, Corrie van Zyl said on appointing Amol as the interim batting coach, “Amol is a perfect fit for us. He brings an intimate knowledge of Indian playing conditions and the challenges our batsmen are likely to face”. Being a former Indian player, Amol very well knows about the pitch conditions of grounds and what strategy can work over them. Only time will tell whether the appointment of Amol will prove fruitful for South Africa or not. Currently, both the teams are sweating hard in the nets to perform brilliantly in the upcoming prestigious campaign. With the ICC World Test Championship in minds, both India and South Africa will go all out to perform better in the game.

The grand cricket campaign between both the teams will start from September 15. The tour which will be hosted by men in blue will consist of three T20 Internationals and three Test matches. The first T20I will begin at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on September 15th while the first Test match will commence from October 2nd at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
