The all-rounder cricketer of Pakistan, Shoaib Malik who had taken the 10-days break from the field is all set to join back the Pakistani squad. The brilliant right-handed batsman will take part in the second ODI match at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground on May 11, Saturday. Though, the player will join back his side on Thursday at Southampton. The 37-year-old senior has played a total of 282 ODIs and 111 T20 Internationals. Earlier in November 2015, the star cricketer announced his retirement from Test cricket format to focus only on shorter versions of the game. Moreover, Malik has also become the first Asian cricketer to reach the benchmark of 2,000 runs in T20Is matches in July 2018.
The official authorities of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on the development, “the Pakistan cricket team management has given leave to Shoaib Malik so that he can return home to deal with a domestic issue. He is expected to rejoin the team in 10 days’ time”.
Currently, Pakistan is gearing up for their five-match ODI series against England. The squad will play their first One Day International against the English squad on May 8 at The Oval Stadium.
Pakistani men will kick-off their World Cup campaign against West Indies on May 31 at Trent Bridge and before their 50-over grand tournament, the green army will play the warm-up matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh on May 24 and 26 respectively.
