Cricket is the game of high-end emotions and enthusiasm but sometimes these imprudent feelings could even cost a match to the brilliant players. This exactly what happened to the star opener of South Africa Aiden Markram who has been ruled out of third and the last Test encounter against India after a self-inflicted wrist injury.
The explosive batsman Markram had a jerky start during the second innings of the second Test against hosting team India after which he was given out LBW by the umpire. This resulted in the aggressive cricketer lashing out at a solid object due to frustration and walked off the field without any run in his kitty. Markram then immediately got medical assistance from the team in which he was diagonosed with a wrist bone fracture. As a result, the hapless team of South Africa will now have to play without their blazing cricketer Aiden Markram in the last Test encounter at Ranchi.
The 25-year-old young right-handed batsman said while sharing the disappointing news with his fans, “it’s sad to be going home on this note and I completely understand what I’ve done wrong and take full accountability for it. It’s unacceptable in a Proteas environment and to let the team down is what hurts me the most. I’ve learned a lot from this and the other players I’m sure, have learned from it as well.
The official team selectors of South Africa have not called any replacement so far for the upcoming clash against India. It will be interesting to see how the Proteas will recover from such a big blow before the third and the last Test encounter. Notably the hosts of the ongoing three-match Test series, Indians have already clinched the important campaign with 2-0 win and the upcoming match will just be a formality for them. But still Virat Kohli and team will try their best to whitewash the Proteas with a 3-0 verdict. However, without Aiden Markram in the team, it is going to be quite difficult for the visitors to clinch the last game against powerful hosts.
