Appreciating one’s rivals is a quality that has developed in players over the years. Sometimes, players tend to involve themselves in the pressures of the game, that such small things don’t cross our minds.
However, it should not be brushed off. This is a habit which tests how aware the players with players of other teams. These times are such, that awareness is the key to success. If a team doesn’t conduct analysis on other players and doesn’t understand their targets, things can be very grim. Any sport is not only won with skill and luck, but there is also strategy required.
It is also very nice and warming to see other big players appreciating the better qualities they lack or find the other person is better at.
Appreciating fellow captains
Ben Stokes has the intent of wanting to be in the midst of tough situations make him a player that every captain wants in his team. These are the words as states by Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith about his team’s premier all-rounder.
While Smith is sincerely hoping that Stokes doesn’t bring in his A-game during Australia’s white-ball series in England, he wouldn’t mind one bit if Stokes saves his best in the Royals jersey during the upcoming IPL in the UAE.
“It will be great to be able to play some competitive cricket against a quality England side which has few of my Royals teammates (Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler),” states the Australian player.
“Hope they don’t score too many runs or take too many wickets and can save that for the IPL. I have seen Stokes go from strength to strength. He had an incredible World Cup and recently played in Test matches. He bowled beautifully and got some wickets as well.”
“He is a player who wants to be involved whether he is batting, bowling or fielding. He wants to be in hotspots. You want these players in team as they want to deliver in tough situations.”
