The newly-appointed President of Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly has recently announced to seek the opinions of Indian cricket team selectors about M.S. Dhoni’s future in the cricket fraternity ahead on October 24th during an official meeting. The former Indian cricketer Ganguly along with all the bureaucrats of the apex cricket body in India will decide whether Dhoni should call it a day or not.
Speaking to the reporters in the premises of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), the new BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said about Dhoni, “I will find out from the selectors when I meet them on the 24th. I will find out what the selectors are thinking. Then I will put my opinion. Let’s see what Dhoni wants”. Notably, the 47-year-old veteran cricketer will also meet Indian skipper Virat Kohli on October 24th during his important meeting about Dhoni’s future.
Before commenting on anything, the new head Ganguly will see what Dhoni wants on taking retirement from cricket. The former skipper of Indian National Cricket Team MS Dhoni has been dominating the headlines about his retirement for the past few months. His retirement from international cricket format has become a great matter of debate across the world in recent times. However, the man himself Dhoni has not said anything so far about his speculating retirement but everyone including his fans desperately wants to know what will be his next step in the upcoming tournaments.
Dhoni has not been seen in action since India’s disappointing exit from World Cup 2019 in the nail-biting semifinals against New Zealand. The 38-year-old experienced cricketer joined the Indian Army for two weeks after the completion of the prestigious tournament in England. He even missed the important West Indies tour of India and ongoing home series against South Africa. Now when the men in blue are all set to take on Bangladeshi Tigers from November 3rd at the home pitch, it is still not confirmed whether Dhoni will perform in the fixture or not.
The T20I squad of India for the three-match home series against Bangladesh will be announced on October 24th in Mumbai when Sourav Ganguly officially takes over the responsibilities of BCCI’s head on October 22nd.
