In a quite shocking move before the Test opener against South Africa, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has replaced young player Rishabh pant with talented wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha. The 30-year-old right-handed batsman Kohli has recently roped in classic cricketer Saha in the Indian line-up for the first Test against Proteas.

Earlier in the last month, Saha was selected for the Test squad against West Indies but didn’t get a chance to play as Pant was the man behind the stumps. Now, in the upcoming home series, Indian team selectors have decided to include Saha in the three-match Test series as he is India’s best bet against the turning ball. Wriddhiman, unfortunately, injured himself during the 2018 Test series against Proteas but now he has recovered well completely and ready to perform for his country.

While announcing Wriddhiman Saha as the replacement of Rishabh Pant in the Test squad, Virat Kohli said, “Yes, Saha is fit and fine to go. He is going to start the series for us. His keeping credentials are for everyone to see. He has done well with the bat whenever he has got a chance. Saha was always the one we would back as a pure keeper in Test cricket”. Pant was not seen in a good form since the past few tournaments. In the last T20I series against Proteas also Pant performed drastically and also did some blunders which cost India third T20I clash at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Undoubtedly, this decision of star skipper Virat Kohli shattered many Indian cricket fans and in their outrage netizens even trolled the experienced player on several social media platforms.

Here’s see some of the Twitter reactions after the shocking announcement of Virat Kohli to replace Rishabh Pant in India’s upcoming Test series against South Africa:

Amid all this criticism, men in blue are sweating hard in the net to give a smashing answer to Proteas in a three-match test series opener starting from October 2nd at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Earlier both the teams faced each other in three-match T20I series where Proteas outplayed 1-1 series draw against the hosts at their own pitch.

It will be interesting to see with Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant out of the game how India is going to perform against powerful visitors South Africa.
