Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the star cricketers to encourage young voters to cast their votes in a large amount in the upcoming elections. PM Modi urged cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Indian Skipper Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni to inspire young people to come out of their homes and vote for the eligible candidate. There are as many as 15 million young voters in total between the age bracket of 18-19 years who will cast their votes for the very first time in LS polls 2019.
Prime Minister while appealing the cricket celebrities said, “You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, do inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections”.

Not only the superstars of cricket but the honorary Prime Minister also urged other sports personalities including Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal, Geeta Phogat, Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Geeta Phogat, Babita Phogat, Sushil Kumar and many more to motivate youth to vote in the elections. PM Modi also ping many renowned Bollywood personalities as well like the leading businessmen Ratan Tata and Anand Mahindra to appeal to Indian citizens for voting. Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19 and votes will be counted on May 23, 2019. Legislative Assembly elections in four states including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the general election 2019

Earlier also, Prime Minister used a similar tactic at the time of ‘Swachch Bharat Mission’ in 2014. He urged the Bollywood celebrities and sports personalities to influence people to participate in clean-up drives.
