Arsenal are plotting a loan move for Barcelona’s midfielder, Philippe Coutinho. Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his midfield options before the closure of the transfer window next month.
The Gunners’ top priority remains Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey, but they need to sell before acquiring their priority signings. Partey has a release clause of 50 million euros whereas Lyon are willing to negotiate around 60 million euros for their French prodigy, Auoar.
Mikel Arteta and his board are believed to be immensely impressed by Auoar’s performances this year. He is also believed to be at the top of their transfer targets list. But many reports suggest the London club has to make way for incomings by showing the door to some players.
A position where Arsenal are abundant is the central defense.
Nine first-team defenders are registered in the books which include fringe players such as Mustafi, Sokratis, and the currently injured Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers.
The Gunners are willing to entertain offers for other players. Lucas Torreira is a player they are likely to sell to fund other “priority signings.”
Mikel Arteta has continuously claimed in his press conferences that the club is trying to work on different situations to have a “good balance” in the squad.
Recently, reports have also emerged that they might be willing to sell Alexandre Lacazette in their bid to bolster other positions on the pitch.
It’s yet to be seen who they might bring in and move on. But one thing is for sure, they need a refreshed and balanced squad for the remainder of the season if they hope to finish in the top 4. Which they haven’t achieved in the past three seasons.
