Arsenal sealed a sensational move for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey which capped off a positive transfer window for the Reds.
Mikel Arteta’s voice was of a relieved and pleased man in the press conferences that he gave to the media. The Gunners have now strengthened the part of the pitch which needed strengthening. For the Saturday night fixture against Man City, Mikel Arteta was bombed with questions related to their new signing.
When the Spaniard was asked whether Thomas Partey will start the game in Manchester, he said, “Well he was here just yesterday, he is getting familiar with everything around the club. Today he will have his first training session, so everything has to come really quickly for him.
“We knew that before we signed him that he is fit, he is very willing to start playing and we will see how he goes in the next few days.”
Partey signing had a positive impact on the Arsenal camp: Arteta
Further, he shed light on the buzz that surrounded Arsenal’s training facility by saying, “I have seen the buzz around the place, the fans are really happy, I have seen some really positive reactions after we bought him, the same with the team, the squad and the staff.
“I think he is a player we had the radar on for a long time and we have managed to bring him in and I think he will be a really important addition to the team.”
Partey is certainly the type of player Arsenal ‘needed’. Many Arsenal fans have drawn comparisons of the Ghanian with their best defensive midfielder ever, Patrick Viera.
But right now, Arteta just needs to focus on facilitating his adaptation to the Premier League. And if the Gunners’ witness a player anywhere close to the capability of Viera, then they are in for some treat!
