Keeping their hopes still alive in the game Atletico Madrid defeated visiting team Valencia by scoring 3-2 in La Liga tournament at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday. Valencia’s errors cost them an almost winning game as the squad started the game with a major blunder. In the first eight minutes of the match Valencia gifted the lead to Madrid as the midfielder Goncalo Guedes had surrendered possession in his own area which turned the fortunes for Atletico squad. However, in the 35th minute of the game, Valencia scored the equalizer with a remarkable manoeuver around the Madrid’s defender Diego Godin when the striker Kevin Gameiro fired the shot just from outside the goal box.

Right after the beginning of second half Madrid again took the lead. The game began when the home side hit the counter-attack with help of star footballer Antoine Griezmann who flicked the cross of Thomas Lemar to the net. Though the Defender Daniel Wass tried hard to stop the strike but it was too late as Griezmann converted Lemar’s pass to achieve a big bang lead for his squad.

The game became more interesting when Valencia managed to equalize the lead one more time in 77th minute when Saul Niguez called for a handball in the game and video assistant referee (VAR) system gave his approval to the on-field decision. Now both the teams have levelled the game with 2-2 score.

After the second goal, midfielder Dani Parejo tried to mounted pressure on Madrid by coming back in the game but it seems to be not possible as Argentina star Angel Correa launched the winning goal for his team in the 81st minute when he fired the long-range shot around opponent defender Mouctar Diakhab and edge past the Valencia squad.
