Chelsea created history after thrashing Unai Emery’s Arsenal in the rip-roaring finale of Europa League 2019 on Thursday. Maurizio Sarri’s men handed the defeat to Arsenal by a margin of 4-1 with the help of star player Eden Hazard at Baku Olympic Stadium.

The Gunners began the game robustly but blues were also ready for giving tough competition to the opponents. The first half of the exciting tournament went goal-less as both the squads were playing a defensive game in order to stop each other from scoring. Though Arsenal got a chance in first-half to net the goal through a penalty corner won by the forward Alexandre Lacazette in 18th minute but after the play was reviewed by the video assistant referee (VAR) system it was found that no spot-kick should be given to the English squad.

Meanwhile, Arsenal tried to generate more opportunities with the help of speedy duo of Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang but again failed to break the strong defence of Chelsea. When just a few minutes were left to end of the first half, legendary goalie of Arsenal Petr Cech put all his efforts to corner the Chelsea squad from the field and didn’t give them any lone point to open the account.

At the beginning of the second half, the stadium was up again with the cheers of the fans as the goal-less deadlock finally broke. It was Chelsea who broke the silence first and fired the goal through star forward  Giroud who headed the ball to the back of the net after meeting a cross from Emerson. Without giving much time to Arsenal to recover from the shock Chelsea doubled their lead at 60th minute when Hazard gained the opportunity to give a pass to superstar winger Pedro who shot the left-footed goal and convert the scoreboard to 2-0.

Chelsea mounted the pressure on Arsenal after taking the score to 3-0 when Hazard moved to strike another goal just 12-yard far from the post at the 65th minute. Though right after this shot of Hazard, Arsenal got a chance to redeem themselves in the game and the squad well-versed the goal at the 69th minute. Now the scoreboard has changed to 3-1.

Crashing all the hopes of a miraculous comeback, Hazard fired the brilliant strike and convert the pass of Giroud into a winning goal. After this victory, Chelsea brings home their second Europa League title.
