Debutant team Qatar leveled up the game with Group B mates Paraguay at group stage match of Copa America 2019 on Sunday. Qataries scored an unexpected 2-2 draw against Paraguay at Maracana Stadium after which both the teams earned one point each in the recent Group B standings. Qatar’s men showed their caliber in the very first Copa America tournament against well-known squad Paraguay. Though at the beginning of the game Paraguayan seemed to look more dominating as they sounded the board first in just four minutes os starting. The opener led by ace striker Oscar Cardozo mounted pressure on Qataries. Though, Qatar’s star defender Pedro Miguel tried hard to block the header of Bruno Valdez but couldn’t top Paraguayan to goal.
In the 16th minute of the game, Qatar got an excellent chance to level-up the game with the help of brilliant forward Hassan Al Haydos but 28-year-old failed to meet the cross of Abdelkarim Hassan. A few minutes later the squad attained another chance to net the strike but that time Almoez Ali’s hit blocked by talented goalie Roberto Fernandez.
Both the teams go hard on each other in order to find more opportunities to sound the board but it was Paraguay who marked another goal at 56th minute with the help of Derlis Gonzalez who curled the powerful goal against Saad Al Sheeb.
It looked like Qatar came under immense pressure after the double of Paraguay but the middle eastern squad bounced back in the game fiercely as the most-important front liner of the team Almoez Ali fired a shot which was 20 meters far from the post at 68th minutes. With this Qatar got a sigh of relief and opened an account against South Americans. Then, it was incredible defender Rodrigo Rojas who leveled up the game for his side with a powerful knock at 77th minute. While striking second goal for his time Rojas also injured his shoulder but somehow completed his target to net the goal.
Qatar will next lock the horns with another group B mate Colombia on June 19th at Morumbi stadium while Paraguayan will face Lionel Messi starrer Argentina on the same day at Mineirão stadium. Currently, Colombia is leading the Group B standings along with three points while Paraguay and Qatar tied with one point and Argentina is yet to open its account in Copa America 2019.
