Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has recently announced to add two brand new categories in the upcoming ‘The Best FIFA Football Awards 2019’ on Monday. The recently introduced categories included Women’s goalkeeper of the year Award and women’s team of the year Award. The aim behind introducing new categories is to promote women’s football across the world. The grand bestowal ceremony will take place at Milan’s historic Teatro Alla Scala on September 23rd and both Men and Women FIFA players will join the glitzy event for receiving accolades in the same categories.
The Deputy Secretary-General of world football body FIFA, Zvonimir Boban said on the development, “FIFA is certain that France will host a groundbreaking edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup this year, so I cannot think of a better moment to introduce these new awards”. He also added, “it is yet another step in the right direction to raise the profile of women’s football”.
The awards have been categorized in 11 different awards including The Best FIFA Men’s Player, The Best FIFA Women’s Player, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, FIFA Pro Men’s World 11, FIFA Pro Women’s World 11, The FIFA Puskas Award, The FIFA Fair Play Award and last but not the least The FIFA Fan Award.
Moreover, all the details related to voting procedure along with key releasing dates and the rules and regulations of allocation for each award category will be unveiled later in the future.
Meanwhile, the eighth edition of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 will kick start from June 7, 2019 till July 7, 2019 in France and all the matches are scheduled to be played across the nine cities of France.
