The former goalkeeper of Spanish football club Real Madrid, Iker Casillas suffered a major heart attack on Wednesday after he was hospitalized immediately followed by emergency surgeries.
FC Porto announced the mournful news by saying,”Iker Casillas suffered an acute heart attack during Wednesday morning’s training session”. Eventually, the training session was interrupted after the remarkable goalie experienced a sudden attack. The 37-year-old player is currently admitted in CUF Porto Hospital at Portugal. Further, the club said on his health status, “Casillas is doing well, he’s stable and his heart problem has been resolved”.
Casillas, who started his football journey with Spaniards Real Madrid joined the Portuguese club Porto later in 2015 after which he became one of the most prestigious goalkeeper in the history for both the football club and the country.
Moreover, during his exceptional career stint with Real Madrid, the Spanish legend clinched total five La Liga title, three Champions League trophies and two Copa del Rey triumphs. The star player had made 725 appearances for Real Madrid which is the send highest in club’s history so far.
On the game front, FC Porto squad is sweating up in the fields to cling Primeira Liga title this season and currently the club is hovering on the second position with 76 points in the league still two points behind the reigning champions Benfica. Porto will next take on Aves squad at home grass in Estádio do Dragão Stadium on May 4, 2019. The match against Aves will be the opening match of Primeira Liga campaign for Portuguese. However, Porto will play final two matches against Nacional and Sporting CP on May 12 and May 19 respectively. After this Porto FC will face Sporting CP one again n the Taca de Portugal finale on May 25 at home ground Estadio Nacional.
Casillas is not expected to join the Porto squad for any of the big tournaments this year until he recovers well.
