The G.O.A.T debate is not a new thing in the world football and Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s extraordinary performances over the years have set the bar high for others. That leaves us with only two players who are competing for the Greatest of all Time accolade.

Every football fan has their own choice of the better player and now, former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello has shared his opinion on who’s the best between Messi and Ronaldo.

Capello termed one of them as genius while, other as an extraordinary one.

The Los Blancos played under Capello in 1996 and 2006, but his opinion might fuel some fire among Madrid fans, as he labelled Messi as the genius and Ronaldo as extraordinary, explaining that a genius can do things that an extraordinary can’t.

“Ronaldo is an extraordinary footballer, but Messi is a genius. There have been three geniuses in football: Pele, Maradona and Messi.”

“It’s one thing to be an outsider, and another thing, to be a genius. The difference is enormous since a genius does what nobody imagines,” former Real Madrid manager said as quoted by Marca.

Messi is enjoying an excellent year with extraordinary numbers as he has scored 33 goals in the La Liga this season and is also the top scorer in Champions League this year with 8 goals. With the extraordinary stats, the Barcelona attacker is right now leading the race for the European Golden Shoe.

While on the other hand, Ronaldo joined Juventus this season and is making the impact in the Italian league with his goal-scoring abilities which was highly expected. The big match player Ronaldo rescued Juventus in Champions League round of 16 against Atletico Madrid by scoring a brilliant hat-trick.

If things went in Barcelona and Juventus way then we might see a Champions League final between the two G.O.A.Ts, Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo.
