The well-known Premier League club Arsenal is all set to get a new skipper in the upcoming league encounters as Granit Xhaka has been sacked from the club’s captaincy due to an emotional outburst towards supporters in the recent match against Crystal Palace. The club has now appointed star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the prestigious position. The experienced Frenchman Aubameyang led the strong team of Arsenal towards a 1-1 draw against powerful Wolves in Saturday’s match of Premier League 2019. After this hard-fought game, Arsenal manager Unai Emery decided to name Aubameyang as the new captain.

The boss of Arsenal, Unai Emery said while appointing Aubameyang as the captain, “I was speaking with him (Granit Xhaka) this morning and also I decided he’s not one of the captains in our group and I decided that and I told him this morning. “He accepted my decision. “We have now Aubameyang, Hector (Bellerin), (Alexandre) Lacazette and (Mesut) Ozil – they are the four captains, and first is now Aubameyang”.

The 27-year-old brilliant footballer Xhaka was left with no option except leaving his captaincy as he was dealing with death threats from the Arsenal fans. The Swiss international was booed by the audience during his previous matches. Not only this, but he has also received the life-threatening comments like ‘we will break your legs’, ‘Kill your wife’ and ‘wish that your daughter gets cancer’ from the audience. After this, it became impossible to keep calm for the star midfielder. As a result, he threw away the captain’s armband during the recent match of Arsenal and eventually get stripped of his post.

Xhaka held the reigns of Arsenal earlier in this September after Emery took a vote of all the Arsenal footballers in the dressing room and majority came in Xhaka’s favour. Though he was an apple of everyone’s eye before his flop shows in Premier League 2019. But now the scenario has been changed as Aubameyang will lead the strong squad in remaining matches. It will be interesting to see how he will perform for Arsenal in the upcoming encounters.
