The stage of Champions League semifinals is set – FC Barcelona vs Liverpool. It’s going to be one of the most anticipated matches of the season with world best players of their department collide against each other, Lionel Messi taking on Virgil van Dijk.
In the high voltage clash, Barcelona striker Luis Suarez will travel back to the memory lane of his time at Liverpool, for whom he scored 82 goals in 133 matches and was their key man at his time at the club before he set off for Barcelona. But now the Uruguayan has a new home in Barcelona and from past few years, he has been a goal-scoring machine for the Catalan giants.
Before the clash, Suarez has already warned the Reds that he will show no mercy against them on the pitch when both teams collide to seal their spot in the finals of the Champions League. The 32-year old also remarked that there will no friendships once the whistle blows
“In the build-up to the game, it’s nice to talk about how massively grateful I am to Liverpool for all they gave me,” Suarez spoke in an interview with Daily Mail.
“But, you know me, once I’m on the pitch there will be no friendships, no companions, no thought for all the lovely moments. I’ll defend the colours of Barcelona with all the pride in the world.”
Barcelona is in great form this year and are aiming for a third treble this year as they are just one match away to lift La Liga trophy and they have also entered the final of the Copa del Rey.
In the quest to enter semifinals of the UCL, Barcelona thrashed Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Manchester United by 4-0 on aggregate in quarterfinals to secure a spot in the second last stage of the tournament. Apart from Suarez, it will also be a homecoming for Phillipe Coutinho who spent five years at the Anfield.
