The Indian National Football squad who kept their tail up after a famous 0-0 draw against Asian champions Qatar in ACL 2019 are all set to take on lower-ranked Bangladesh in a Group E Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
Ahead of the match against Bangladesh, the head coach of Indian football team Igor Stimac declared star player Rahul Bheke fit for the upcoming game. But on the same time brilliant defender Sandesh Jhingan’s absence in the next battle came as a big shock for Indian fans. Jhingan who picked up a serious injury during a friendly match against ISL side NorthEast United has been dropped down from the 23-man squad against Bangladesh as he has still not recovered well.
The star skipper of Indian football team Gurpreet Singh Sandhu expressed his disappointment on Jhingan’s absence from the team by saying, “it’s really sad. It’s a big loss for us, especially at this moment. I could imagine how would he feel missing this game but he’s a strong guy and he’ll come back strongly soon”
With this major setback, Indian football fans are still hoping for the hosting team’s win. It will be interesting to see whether the blues will be able to dominate the lead over visitors in front of their home crowd or Bangladeshi squad clinched the win on Indian soil.
