In the very first southern derby of Indian Super League season six, defending champions Bengaluru FC clinched the match at their home ground. The powerful side of Bengaluru FC outclassed the two-time title lifters Chennaiyin FC with a great margin of 3-0 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday night. An early goal from Erik Paartalu and last-minute efforts from substitute Thaongkhosiem put the defending champions to the driver’s seat. As a result, Bengaluru FC registered its maiden win in the ongoing edition of ISL after back-to-back disappointing ties.

Right from the beginning of the game, the hosts maintained their dominance over the visitors as they played some brilliant shots in the early minutes to mark the opener. In the 14th minute, the home team finally got the success as Erik Paartalu gave a 1-0 lead to Bengaluru FC with an amazing kick. But this was not enough for the champions as few minutes experienced captain Sunil Chhetri doubled the lead by 2-0 against Chennaiyin FC. As a result, the first half was ended in Bangalore’s favour.

However, in the second half, visitors tried hard to come back in the game but Blues’ keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu didn’t give them any ray of hope to win. When only six minutes were left on the clock for the final whistle, substitute player Thaongkhosiem Semboi showed his prowess and grabbed the winning goal for Bengaluru FC. In this way, Sunil Chhetri and team emerged victorious against Chennaiyin FC last night.

Here’s see the match highlights of the worth-watching battle between defending champions Bengaluru FC and former champions Chennaiyin FC at Indian Super League 2019:

With this impressive win, Bengaluru FC has now reached to the fifth position of current Indian Super League standings along with six points in the kitty. While on the other side, hapless Chennaiyin FC has now moved down to the lats position of recent standings with only one point in account.
