The last year’s runners-up FC Goa came up with yet another enthralling draw in the sixth edition of Indian Super League as they leveled up the match against NorthEast United FC with a 2-2 scoreline at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati on Friday. The 13th encounter of ISL 2019 was full of action-pack drama and end-to-end shots between FC Goa and Highlanders NorthEast United FC. However, the hosts somehow managed to take the lead in the dying minutes but Manvir Singh’s late powerful shot in the extra time rescued his team in the edgy nail-biter. As a result, the battle was ended with an unexpected draw.

However, the Highlanders got off an excellent start against the strong visitors as the attacking midfielder Milan Singh found the net easily but failed to score the opener in initial minutes. This was then followed by some outstanding shots from Ferran Corominas and Boumous for Goa FC. But the hosts somehow managed to save those shots. In the 31st minute of the game, Boumous fired an energetic goal for FC Goa and this time he made no mistake. As a result, the first half was ended with a 1-0 scoreline in favour of the visitors.

In the second half, the confident hosts accelerated their momentum and changed their playing strategy. Eventually, Highlanders were also sounded with an opener at 54th minute through the help of star striker Asamoah Gyan who leveled up the scoreline for NorthEast United FC. Before the visitors could recover in a neck-to-neck game with a lead, hosts slotted another emphatic goal. This time with the help of Redeem Tlang who doubled the lead for NorthEast United at 74th minute. But this was not the end of Goa’s journey in the game as brilliant forward Manvir Singh rose highest in the centre of the box and registered the second goal for visitors. With this hard-fought draw, FC Goa has now reached to the third position of current Indian Super League standings with five points in the kitty. While on the other side Jamshedpur FC has also improved better in the recent points table as they climbed up to the second spot with as many as six points in the account.

FC Goa will next take on the strong opponents of Mumbai City FC at Mumbai Football Arena on November 7th. While NorthEast United FC will face Hyderabad FC on November 6th at Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi Athletic Stadium, Hyderabad.
