Jamshedpur FC put up a great show against the strong team of Odisha FC in their grand campaign opener at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Tuesday. In the third match of Indian Super League 2019, hosting team Jamshedpur FC won the closely-contested battle by 2-1 margin against confident visitors Odisha FC. All thanks to the last-minute efforts of Sergio Castel which helped the team to rise as the winners of the game.

However, Odisha got off a very good start in the game as they began their play with 65 percent of possession and 78 percent of big pass accuracy against the hosts. But the star forward of Jamshedpur FC turned the tables in his team’s favour.

At the beginning of the first half, it was the visitors who opened an account first with the help of brilliant defender Rana Gharami who fired a shot at 16th minute. But Odisha’s celebration was short-lived as the fast center-back player Santana scored an equalizer for hosting team at 40th minute right after Bikash Jairu was given a red card. As a result, the first half was ended with 1-1 draw with Jamshedpur FC reduced to 10 players.

In the second half of the match also, both the teams struggled very hard to extend their lead but none of them was able to do so. In the dying minutes of the mouth-watering battle Castel then came forward to break the deadlock and scored a second goal at the 85th minute for Jamshedpur FC. At last, the hosts had the last laugh and visitors Odisha FC went down in the campaign opener.
