Jurgen Klopp claimed he enjoys games of this magnitude as he prepares his team for the clash against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The weekend’s clash is between two teams who many believe are this season’s title contenders. Klopp speaking ahead of the match said in his press conference, “I enjoy these kind of games. I enjoy the preparation for the games but it doesn’t make it easier. It’s just a really tough task. The most difficult game in the world of football I would say, to play against Manchester City,”
“Yes I enjoy the preparation but unfortunately we still lost some games against them. Just because I like to prepare for a game against them doesn’t mean we win it afterwards. But from time to time it is just nice that I have fun as well.”
The German then pointed out on an intriguing aspect of his preparation. He said that City don’t change their tactics much because they have become very efficient and effective in what they do. “Very often you realise that pretty much all the preparation is really difficult because when teams play against us they change everything. And that makes it really tricky because you don’t know what to expect.”
In this case, yes. City do what they always do and it is that good they do it always because if it wasn’t that good they would change it from time to time.”
A win for Liverpool will take them to 19 points, top of the table after eight games. However, the Manchester club can’t afford to drop points again.
If they lose at Etihad, they will go eight points behind The Reds, a mountain of a task at such an early stage of the campaign.
