Jurgen Klopp took a sly dig on Premier League rivals Manchester United ahead of Solskjaer men’s clash against defending champions and neighbours club Man City.
Manchester derby will be played on this Saturday where the both teams will clash to their personal benefits in the league. United need to win the match to keep alive their chances of the qualification for the next year’s Champions League, while City are fighting to reclaim the Premier League title against Klopp’s Liverpool. City are currently two points behind Liverpool on the points table, but they have played one game lesser than the Reds.
United will be the most difficult hurdle for Pep’s men to defend their title reign but the current form of United suggested something else. The Red Devils lost to Everton by 4-0 in their last match and received a lot of criticism from the fans and critics.
Now, Klopp didn’t mince his words while talking about the upcoming Manchester derby. Klopp fired shots at United score line against Everton.
“It [the derby] is not something we can influence, and it does not look like United are in a place to, either,” Klopp quipped to Sky Sports after beating Cardiff City 2-0. “What was the [United] score today? 3-0, 4-0, to Everton?”
The last time when Liverpool squared up against rivals United, the result ended with 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. Klopp desperately needs United to do the same against City on Saturday’s derby.
Liverpool too have an important clash against Barcelona in Champions League semifinals to continue their journey in the tournament. Lionel Messi will be the difficult puzzle for Klopp to solve as the Barcelona attacker is in astonishing form. Messi scored a brace against United in the return leg of Champions League at Camp Nou to throw them out of the competition.
