Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken his side on the decade long rivalry between the two best players of the generation, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The rivalry between the two players has always been in headlines whenever the two players step onto the field and produce their magic. However, Ronaldo left Real Madrid last year to join Juventus but fans still want him and Barcelona’s attacker to play against each other someday in UEFA Champions League.

Klopp, who is set to face Messi and Co in the semifinals of Champions League on Wednesday night at Camp Nou, is in the quest to enter consecutive finals as they lost to Real Madrid last year when Ronaldo was an integral part of the team. The Red’s chief picked Messi over Ronaldo and rated him even higher than legendary three-time World Cup winner Pele.

Speaking ahead of the UCL semifinals, Liverpool’s manager said via The Express UK, “Messi would be the player at number one. Cristiano Ronaldo is in that for sure but the rest we have to see. I coached a few good players but they didn’t finish their careers yet. I didn’t see Pele live but there are a lot of good players. Lionel Messi is for me the best.”

Messi and Ronaldo both have been considered as the G.O.A.T by the football pundits and fans and they proved them right whenever they enter the field. Both players have won five-five FIFA Ballon d’Ors, but this time Messi has a golden chance to take a lead over the Portuguese International.

Juventus is already out of Champions League after losing to Ajax in the quarterfinals that tore down Ronaldo’s chances to claim another accolade.

Messi will be the key man for Barcelona in the high voltage contest as after winning the La Liga, as Blaugranas are eyeing the treble, which he won in 2014-15. Barcelona are also in the finals of Spanish Cup which gives Barcelona a chance at the treble which they last won four years ago.
